What is autism? Who are children with special needs?
The Center for Children with Special Needs & Autism provides a wide range of behavioral health services for children, adolescents, and young adults.
We offer evidence-based psychiatric services for children and adolescents, including diagnosis, treatment, psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and patient education. All services are provided via telemedicine.
Our licensed counselors and social workers provide individual counseling to children, adolescents, and adults. They focus on promoting mental health, treating mental and emotional issues, and offering guidance. Our caring clinicians focus on using a wellness model that addresses individual strengths to encourage resilience and recovery.
Our social skills-building groups, facilitated by a clinician or case manager, are provided for school-age children. The facilitators provide lessons on how to socialize appropriately with others, and can help children learn communication, problem-solving, emotional awareness, and listening skills.
We want to ensure that your child is connected to the resources and services he or she may need, and we do this by providing case managers who are dedicated to careful case coordination and management. Case managers are responsible for identifying appropriate services and facilities for your child to achieve wellness and functional capability. They are supports and advocates for your child and your family, and they assist in facilitating assessments and meetings to coordinate care as best as possible.
Members are frequently referred to other agencies or entities depending on their needs. There are a wide range of community referrals and services made available to members upon request. Members requiring financial assistance are referred to their intake agency and screened for AHCCCS eligibility.
We provide workshops for families with a child who has a disability or special concerns. Parents often need a great deal of information: about the disability of their child, school services, therapy, local policies, funding sources, transportation, medical facilities, and much more.
